Raena Morgan: Can coconut oil help fight off infections?

Dr. Bruce Fife: You know, when I was doing my initial research in coconut oil one of the things that really impressed me was the massive amount of research in this regards and how the medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil kill disease causing bacteria, viruses and fungi. Research has shown that the medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil killed bacteria that caused such things as gastric ulcers…

RM: Ulcers!?

BF: Yes…ear infections, sinus infections, gonorrhea, pneumonia; they kill viruses that cause ringworm, athlete’s foot, Candida infections. They kill viruses that cause influenza, measles, herpes, mononucleosis, hepatitis C. We have antibacterial drugs, but we don’t really have very effective antivirals.

RM: Okay.

BF: We don’t have drugs that can really kill a virus, but we do have a natural, God-given product and that is coconut oil. Coconut oil does kill viruses. This has been demonstrated in lab studies that medium chain fatty acids kill all of these disease causing microorganisms. And yes, we can take these internally and protect [ourselves] from these conditions.
