Interview with Dr. Ward Bond

Raena Morgan: Doctor Bond, many people are diagnosed with fibromyalgia and suffer from it greatly. How can ribose affect fibromyalgia? What can it do for fibromyalgia?

Dr. Ward Bond: One of the best explanations would be a study by Doctor Jacob Teitelbaum. They tested five areas. They tested for pain, fatigue, mental clarity, quality of life and even sleep.

RM: Okay.

WB: That’s very important for fibromyalgia.

RM: Yes.

WB: In all five areas, all the test subjects showed an improvement of sixty-six percent,-

RM: That’s dramatic.

WB: -in all five areas.

RM: Wow.

WB: And because all five is very important for someone with fibromyalgia, so it shows that by putting ribose back into the body, getting these energy factories in our mitochondria kicked into gear so to speak, getting these- well, getting the energy built up enough to get the muscles to relax. So again here we are talking about energy causing relaxation which, for fibromyalgia, leads to healing. And then on top of that, they actually have the energy that they need to operate during the day.

RM: Very often people with fibromyalgia are put on antidepressants and sleep drugs and things like that, but that doesn’t help the body to relax.

WB: No, it doesn’t. And the thing about those drugs is- and that even, that really causes horrible brain fog. A lot of the antidepressants- you know, in the beginning with fibromyalgia for the diagnosis, doctors would just hand out antidepressants thinking there’s no such thing as fibromyalgia. You know, sleeping pills don’t ever answer the question of the muscles, and the muscles are very important in the areas of sleep. Most people are taking sleeping pills just to knock them out.

RM: Right.

WB: They never- you may be knocked out, but that doesn’t mean that you made it into REM. See what we need during sleep and the one thing I like about ribose, sleep is the time of true recovery. That’s where our body recovers, that’s where we can slow down the aging process and really feel better the next day. Ribose is that actual molecule. Like I said, we are born with it, we put our body through abuse for years and then we’re wondering what’s wrong. Put the ribose back in and you’d be amazed how you can just make this dramatic turnaround. And for people with fibromyalgia, again, less pain, less fatigue, you know-

RM: Better sleep.

WB: -better sleep, the quality of life, mental clarity-

RM: Mental clarity, yes.

WB: -comes back, again sixty-six percent improvement. I have clients with fibromyalgia. We’re looking at ninety to a hundred percent improvement just by adding ribose.

RM: Just by adding ribose?

WB: Just by adding ribose.

RM: How simple the truth may be.

WB: Well that’s one thing I like about natural medicine and natural health, because you’re giving the body what it needs. No one has ever been deficient in Prozac and Zoloft.
