Interviewer: Doctor, just talk a little bit about CME and depression, how the two are related and a product that you have to tie in with all that.
Dr. Bradley Bush: Sure, CME is a nutritional supplement that's been used historically for people with low mood or . . .
Interviewer: Mm-hmm.
Dr. Bradley Bush: . . . depression, and also for joint pain. CME has been used in some very large studies published by world-renowned journals towards efficacy in being used for people who have depression, but have not responded to SSRI therapy or common prescriptive depression meds.
Interviewer: Mm-hmm.
Dr. Bradley Bush: The studies show that it's a significant improvement by patients, so it's one of those therapies that anyone suffering from depression, who have not found full relief with using SSRIs or other prescriptive meds, to explore. Those studies also show it's extremely safe with no reported major side effects.
Interviewer: And can you talk about the product that you have that might be beneficial to people with those conditions?
Dr. Bradley Bush: Oh, sure. We put the CME with one of our longstanding products, Adrecor. Adrecor is our go to product for treating the adrenals for general adrenal health. CME is a great supporter of the methalation process. Adrecor has used L-methionine to support methalation, but CME is more of a premium ingredient to provide additional support to the methalation process. It's required process for methalation.
And it's been shown that when individuals take CME, especially if you are predisposed to having methalation issues, it actually can lead to an increased amount of certain neurotransmitters. A class called monomeneural transmitters which includes serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine. All of these certain neurotransmitters that happen to be highly affected by individuals under chronic stress.
So marrying CME to an adrenal support product, we do two things. We support their overall and neurotransmitter health, but also their methalation process. One of the other great benefits that CME has is that it, in itself, is a rate limiting cofactor in the synthesis of epinephrine. Your body produces norepinephrine . . .
Interviewer: Mm-hmm.
Dr. Bradley Bush: . . . but it requires CME as a cofactor to convert it to epinephrine. And epinephrine is that adrenaline. That's what people feel. And often people with adrenal fatigue lack that get up and go.
Interviewer: Mm-hmm.
Dr. Bradley Bush: They lack that energy. And so this is a great way that neuroscientists have been able to package a wonderful ingredient like CME into a formulation that provides a very unique approach to helping individuals, with not just energy and adrenal health, but also depression.
