Dr. Dowd is board certified in pediatric and adult rheumatology, as well as internal medicine. Dr. Dowd founded the Arthritis Institute of Michigan in 1997 and continues to practice there.
Dr. Dowd has also been an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine since 2008.
A native of Texas, Dr. Dowd received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He completed his residency in combined internal medicine and pediatrics at the State University of New York in Buffalo, where he also served as chief medical resident at Erie County Medical Center in 1991.
Dr. Dowd is also author of The Vitamin D Cure (2008).
