Interviewer: You know, isn't it true, that many prescription drugs actually
came from trying to formulate similar things from plants and botanical
modifications?
Roy Upton, RH DAyu: Yeah, most of the numbers that are typically cited the
most are about 60 percent, either began from natural products or were
synthesized from analogues that were actually discovered within the
natural world, within the plant kingdom. And that's especially true for
many of the anti-cancer drugs that have been passed or approved in the last
20 years. They were analogues of plant based compounds that were originally
you know, originally used as plants. So that's very true.
